Switzerland's first 3D printed walking humanoid robot debut

Recently, Jinn-Bot Robotics & Design from Switzerland has created the country's first 3D printed walking humanoid robot. The robot, called Jinn, can listen, speak, express emotions, and perform various actions. Moreover, it can be controlled via PC and Android devices, all you have to do is download a free app. According to Jinn-Bot Robotics & Design, they designed this modular robot to educate and train CAD, 3D printing and Javascript programming skills for users at all levels. The company also offers a variety of applications for robots in everyday life. The actual solution.

It is understood that the Jinn robot is 110 cm in height and weighs 5.3 kg. Its components are completely printed in PLA plastic 3D (a total of 90 3D printing parts). And the entire design of Jinn is modular and scalable. The development team installed a variety of sensors on it, including sports, sound, light, Bluetooth and ultrasound, and it also has more advanced capabilities, such as completing complex motion sequences, reading text messages or playing music. Jinn is mainly controlled by an Android app, which was developed by Roger Seeberger. The standard version of the app manages 24 different servos, and thanks to WiFi connectivity and various software upgrades, Jinn can easily “learn” new capabilities and adapt to the individual needs of users.

According to Jinn-Bot Robotics & Design, Jinn can stand alone, can walk at a speed of six seconds and a meter, and even stand on one foot. In addition, it is able to respond to voice control and change the animated expression on the screen according to its mood.

In addition to a kind and human face, Jinn's most important advantage - these are the main purpose of designing it - is more convenient and easy to use, it is suitable for teachers, students and professional users. Jinn's development team has also set up a company to provide robotic systems based on industry-standard modules for classrooms, universities or professional trainers. Jinn is just one of them.

Their robots are made with CAD design and 3D printing technology . Their components are open source, so users can modify them; their software is based on Java and is transformed according to industry standards, and provides users with a detailed introduction to robot hardware and software. On the other hand, the company expects its robots to offer everyday-based solutions such as health care (for hospitals that care for the elderly or children), entertainment, manufacturing and packaging.

Although Jinn is already a fairly advanced humanoid robot, more importantly, it has the ability to continuously upgrade quickly in both software and hardware. According to Jinn-Bot Robotics & Design, a fully assembled Jinn sells for about 10,700 euros.

As human interaction with robots becomes more and more realistic in the near future, we will not only need to adapt to the existence of humanoid robots, but also the corresponding knowledge to design, manufacture and control them to serve our various needs. Therefore, an educational project with an educational function like Jinn is an important step in helping us move in this direction.
