Determination of Anthraquinones in Cassia Seed by High Performance Liquid Chromatography

[Abstract] Objective To determine the content of five anthraquinones in cassia. Methods High performance liquid chromatography was used. Chromatography column: Shim-packCLC-ODSC18 column; mobile phase: methanol-0.1% aqueous phosphoric acid gradient; flow rate: 1 ml / min; λ: 440 nm. Results The method is accurate, reliable and reproducible. Conclusion This method can determine the contents of five anthraquinones in cassia seed.

Cassia is the dry and mature seed of the leguminous plant CassiaobtusifoliaL. Or Cassia obtusiL. The taste is sweet, bitter, salty, slightly cold, and returns to the liver and large intestine. It has the effects of clearing the liver and improving eyesight and relaxing the bowel, which is commonly used in clinical medicine [1]. Its main chemical composition is anthraquinone compounds. In this experiment, the contents of aloe-emodin, rhein, emodin, chrysophanol, and emodin methyl ether in cassia seed were simultaneously determined by HPLC method, which laid a foundation for the research of effective substances in cassia seed.
