Optical platform-an instrument intertwined with light and electricity

The optical platform is an experimental platform that provides a horizontal and stable table for placing various optical components. The general platform needs to carry out vibration isolation and other measures to ensure that it is not interfered by external factors, so that scientific experiments can be carried out normally.

The basic components of the standard optical platform include: (1) top plate, (2) bottom plate, (3) side surface finishing, (4) side plate, (5) honeycomb core, (6) sealing cup, etc.

The optical platform of Zhuoli Hanguang is divided into two types: damping vibration isolation and air float vibration isolation.

Damping

The most important characteristic of an optical table or breadboard is its resonance frequency. The resonance frequency and amplitude are negatively correlated, so the resonance frequency should be increased as much as possible to minimize vibration intensity. The platform and breadboard will vibrate in a specific frequency range. In order to improve performance, the damping effect of each size platform and breadboard needs to be optimized.

Platform damping requires various tests to optimize its thickness / area ratio. Larger platforms (with a side length of at least 10 feet or 3 meters) have a standard thickness of 12.2 inches (310 mm), which improves stability. For smaller platforms, the thickness can be 8.3 inches (210 mm) or 12.2 inches (310 mm), or larger sizes can be customized. The figure below shows the typical differences in damping characteristics of platforms with thicknesses of 210 mm and 310 mm.

Air float vibration isolation

By giving compressed air or nitrogen to the four air springs of the vibration isolation platform at a certain pressure, a single air spring is divided into upper and lower chambers, and the air flow flows up and down through the orifice.

The optical platform pursues a level, and the entire table is extremely flat when first processed. After that, the table is placed on four airbags connected to ensure that the table is level. The table surface is covered with engineering screw holes arranged in a square, and these holes and corresponding screws can be used to fix optical components. In this way, when you complete the construction of the optical equipment, the system will basically not change due to external disturbances. Even if the table is pressed, it will automatically return to level due to the airbag.
