Bronzing first means that on the labeling machine, the roll paper is first bronzed and then printed. Post bronzing refers to printing first and bronzing last. The key to bronzing first and bronzing is the drying of ink. There are two situations in the relationship between bronzing graphics and printed graphics: namely side by side and overprinting. Due to the different inks used, the functions of the labeling machine are divided into two types: first hot stamping and second hot stamping.

1. First bronzing process. It is used in intermittent paper feed printing presses, using ordinary ink, and the hot stamping parts are installed in front of the printing station of the label machine. Because the ink used is oxidative polymerization type drying, the ink after printing needs a certain time to dry completely, so the gold foil graphics must avoid the ink. The best way to avoid ink is to pre-gilding on the roll material, and then printing, so that the printed graphics and bronzing graphics and text can be separated (parallel). If printing on bronzing graphics, because the anodized aluminum is a metal surface, the ink is only volatile, conjunctival, and no penetration, and the surface of the anodized aluminum is smooth, no ink, and it is not suitable for printing. Bronzing first prevents ink smearing and guarantees label printing quality.

2. Post bronzing process. The post bronzing process uses ink, and the bronzing parts are installed behind the printing station of the label machine. The roll material is first printed and passed through the drying device, the ink is dried instantly, and then the surface of the material after the ink is dried or the surface of the ink is gilded. Since the ink has dried, the juxtaposition and overprinting of the bronzing graphics and text will have no effect on the roll material, and ink smearing will not occur.

Compared with the two methods of bronzing, post bronzing is an ideal method, which brings convenience to label graphic design and expands the application range of bronzing graphic. However, due to the limitations of device functions, label costs are relatively high. The first hot stamping process is suitable for the processing of small labels with simple graphics and text. It has a low cost and a wide range of applications. It is a common method for small and medium-sized printing plants.
