Green food exports have maintained rapid growth in recent years

In recent years, a prominent feature of the development of green food is that, while the total scale has continued to expand, the export of products has maintained a momentum of rapid growth. In 2000, the national green food product export value was 200 million U.S. dollars and the export rate was 2.5%. In 2001, the export value of products was 400 million U.S. dollars and the export rate was 6.5%; in 2002, the export value of products was 840 million U.S. dollars, and the export rate was 11.6%.
From 2000 to 2002, the average annual growth rate of green food exports was 105%, which was 63% higher than the average growth rate of 42% in 1997-2000. In 2002, there were 273 green food export enterprises nationwide, accounting for 15.5% of the total number of green food enterprises, and 301 export products, accounting for 9.8% of the total number of green food products.
In 2002, from the perspective of the structure of green food export products, there were 178 export products of agricultural and forestry products and processed products, accounting for 62.5% of the total number of export products, and the export value was 650 million U.S. dollars, accounting for 77.4% of the total exports; there were 42 animal products. Exports amounted to US$90 million, accounting for 14.7% and 10.7% of the total number of export products and exports; 33 exports of beverage products (including tea and alcoholic products) and US$0.5 billion in exports, which accounted for the total number of export products, respectively. And exports total 11.6 and 5.9%.
There are two main reasons why green food export trade maintains rapid growth. On the one hand, after China's accession to the WTO, in the increasingly fiercely competitive international agricultural product market, the quality and safety advantages of green food products and the brand's overall competitive advantage have gradually emerged. For example, through the certification of green food, export enterprises have effectively broken through the international agricultural products of some countries. The technical trade barriers set up in the trade field have significantly increased the market competitiveness of export products. On the other hand, the green food work system has actively guided, created conditions, and carried out various services, which has effectively promoted the development of green food export trade.
